iKanji+iKana won't teach you Japanese, but as a learning aid they look like fantastic resources. I wish iKanji had been around when I was taking Japanese in college; kanji were always what I had the most trouble remembering.

This is a fantastic business app. I simply cannot get excited about syncing/protecting our work with .MAC. It seems geared up for non-business fun-seekers. We've got Together working flawlessly with Dropbox, although only in beta it looks more promising for serious use.

That makes sense.

So... what's to stop this taking over a good deal of Finder operations? Have you tested this with large databases either in terms of size or number of files? There's a part of me that's intrigued by the idea of incorporating whole chunks of my existing data.

Together should import the files immediately, provided the file is not marked as being "busy", in which case it will wait as it may be a temporary file or Together may need to move the file, which could cause problems.

Some Microsoft Office applications mark their files as busy until they are closed. Other apps (e.g. TextEdit) can cope with their open files being moved, and so these will be imported immediately.

So I have a 'Together Docs' folder in my Library.

I've included that in my Finder sidebar. And it's available to me in all Save dialogs and Finder windows.

It takes a while before the doc appears in Together, is there anyway to adjust the timing for imports to happen? Or have an import from folders now menu item?

Tommy, it'll only be the first time (or when replacing .Mac with data from your computer) that dotmacsyncclient will need the entire library.

Very useful post. I've about 500Mb in my Library but it's growing everyday. I've 2Gb of ram in my MBPro and I've turned off syncing. A quick query, will dotmacsyncclient load up the entire library every time it syncs? Even if there's just one addition? I take it does.
