General
- Together is now runs as a 64-bit application on capable Macs running Snow Leopard.
- When syncing with MobileMe, Together will take advantage of Snow Leopard's automatic conflict resolution to avoid conflicts with supporting data, such as identifiers.
- Updated the Sparkle software update framework. It's now possible to have Together automatically download updates in the background and inform you when it's ready to be installed.
Library
- Icons on both the landscape and portrait item lists can now be resized from their minimum sizes to 128px using the slider in the View Options panel.
- Icons on the item list can also be adjusted using the magnify touch gesture on multitouch trackpads.
- In Portrait mode, it's now possible to chose to display items' ratings, kind, comments or tags instead of just the rating.
- It's now possible to create new items and find items using the menu commands or their equivalent keystrokes when the Library window is not visible.
Previews
- Previews for notes, text documents, web archives, bookmarks and some Quick Look previews can now be zoomed using the new Zoom commands in the View menu.
- In addition to PDFs, previews for notes, text documents and web content can now be zoomed using the magnify touch gesture on multitouch trackpads.
- It's now possible to set an item's name to the selected text in the preview by choosing Set Name to Selected Text from the Item menu.
- Added commands to Highlight text and Remove Formatting to the contextual menus for notes and text document previews.
- Added a setting to the Web Content section of Previews preferences to zoom text and images in web content.
- Added new submenus to the edit menu for working with text: Substitutions, Transformations and Speech.
- The General section of Previews preferences now has options to enable grammar checking and smart copy / paste. On Snow Leopard, there are also options for enabling smart dashes, data detection, automatic correction of spelling mistakes and text replacement.
- QuickTime X is now used for playback of movies and sounds, when possible, on Snow Leopard.
Search
- Added a system service "Search in Together", for searching for the selected text in Together from any application.
- When searching for content, it's now possible to perform a phrase search by enclosing the phrase in quotes.
- Worked around an issue with Spotlight where searching for email messages by content wouldn't work.
Shelf
- The Shelf now includes a white border for improved contrast against darker backgrounds.
- When browsing in the Shelf, items' kind is shown in addition to their rating.
- When searching with the Shelf it's now possible to press Enter to open the selected item without leaving the search field.
- Added an option to Shelf preferences to show all groups or just favorite groups when dragging from other applications.
- Added an option to Shelf preferences to only open the Shelf automatically when one of the shortcut keys is pressed, rather than when the mouse is moved to the edge of the screen, when the tab is hidden.
- On Snow Leopard, the Shelf is no longer be hidden by Exposé.
Items
- Items can be opened in any application by choosing Item > Open With from the menu and choosing the application.
- Linked files can now be copied into Together's library, and optionally the original files moved to the Trash using File > Copy to Library Folder.
- Date Imported has been replaced with Date Added which shows when the item was created or imported and will be set for all items created or imported into a Together library.
- Bookmarks will be converted to a new format introduced by Apple that will work on systems that do not support Mac resource forks, such as Dropbox.
- When renaming items, Together will only offer to change the file extension when the extension is not already hidden.
- On Snow Leopard, Together will no longer generate its own thumbnails for web archives, as this is now handled by Quick Look.
- On Snow Leopard, file sizes will now be calculated using units of 1000 instead of 1024 to match the Finder.
Groups
- Fields in the smart group editor are now sorted by name.
- Smart groups can now search for linked items.
- It's now possible to copy a group link for any item group, folder or smart group using the "Copy Group Link" command in the File menu.
- Worked around an issue with Spotlight to ensure smart groups will now search the content of email messages.
- It's now possible to show the group inspector by pressing Command-I when the Groups outline has focus.
Tags
- The Change Tags panel can now also replace the tags on selected items or all items in the selected group.
- Dragging non-system tag bundles to an item will add all the bundle's tags to the item.
- Added "New Tag Bundle" to the Tags list's contextual menu.
- Auto-tagging will now analyze the content of email messages.
- Moved the Copy Tags to Spotlight Comments preference from Advanced preferences to Tags preferences.
Fixes
- Fixed a problem where Quick Note names could be truncated after a few characters.
- Fixed a problem where tags, etc could not be applied to files after choosing not to replace an existing file.
- Fixed a problem where plain text files would no longer display their custom fonts after being saved.
