Backing Up and Restoring Keep It’s Library
Using Time Machine
If you use Time Machine, Keep It’s files will be backed up automatically, and you can restore older versions of individual files in the Finder as you would any other.
To see the original file for an item:
- Choose Item > Show in Finder from the main menu
Restoring the Library
To restore Keep It's entire library from Time Machine:
- Quit Keep It, if it is open
- Hold on the Option key as you open Keep It to show the Library Utility window
- From the main menu, choose Keep It > Library > Show Files in Finder
- Open Time Machine
- Restore the “Keep It” folder there
- Switch back to Keep It
- Click the Continue button on the Library Utility window to open your library
Using Other Methods
When using other methods to back up your Mac, make sure that Keep It’s library folder is included in the backup. To see that folder:
- Hold on the Option key, and choose Keep It > Library > Show Library File in Finder from the main menu
- Quit Keep It to ensure all its data is saved
- Back up everything in the “Keep It” folder that contains the “Keep It Library.kptlib” file
Restoring the Library
To later restore Keep It's library:
- Quit Keep It, if it is open
- Hold on the Option key as you open Keep It to show the Library Utility window
- From the main menu, choose Keep It > Library > Show Files in Finder
- Restore the “Keep It” folder there
- Switch back to Keep It
- Click the Continue button on the Library Utility window to open your library
