- Fixed an issue where an invalid font could cause the app to crash when viewing a note or rich text file.

- When importing Evernote ENEX files, Keep It will now create a bundle rather than a folder if the number of items to be imported exceeds the iCloud limit for folders (750).
- When removing a bundle, it’s now possible to also remove all the items it contains by selecting “Move items to Deleted Items” on the alert.

Markdown
- There is now a dedicated Markdown editor with syntax highlighting and preview.
- Click the Preview button to show a preview of the Markdown rendered as HTML.
- Use the format bar or Markdown menu to make text strong, emphasized, or strikethrough, convert the selected lines to ordered or unordered lists, or increase / decrease the block quote level.
- Additionally, use the Markdown menu to convert the selected text to code, and to insert a link or image link.
- When editing, lists will automatically continue on a new line.
- Use the Markdown > Editor Styles menu to choose a style for the editor, and manage editor styles. The editor uses styles compatible with MacDown. The file extension must be “.style” and the syntax is described here.
- Use the Markdown > Preview Styles menu to choose a style for the preview, and manage preview styles. Any CSS stylesheet can be used.
- Choose Markdown > Settings from the menu to change settings for the editor or preview, including the default view (editor or preview) when viewing existing Markdown items.
- On macOS High Sierra, the format bar includes a word count button. Clicking this will show text statistics in a popover. Choose an option from the pop-up to show one of these in the format bar itself. Drag the popover to detach it into a separate window.
- On macOS High Sierra, choose Markdown > Show Word Count to show the text statistics in a floating window.
- Text statistics shown are for the rendered text, not the Markdown itself.
- Copy HTML for the selected text using the command in the Markdown menu.
- Export a Markdown item as Markdown, RTFD or HTML with or without the current style by choosing File > Save As from the menu.
- Markdown settings and stylesheets will be stored in iCloud, when in use.
- There is now an option to include Markdown styles when exporting all files from Keep It.
Encrypted Items
- Encrypt or decrypt items using the Item > Encrypt or Item > Decrypt menu items.
- Encrypted items can be temporarily viewed and edited, and will be encrypted again when navigating away, or by choosing Item > Hide Encrypted Item from the menu.
- Use Touch ID to decrypt or view items on the MacBook Pro with Touch Bar.
- There is now an optional Encrypt toolbar item.
- Files are encrypted as Zip files with AES-256 encryption.
- Change the current encryption password by choosing Keep It > Library > Change Encryption password from the menu.
- When exporting, Keep It will prompt to decrypt encrypted items.
- When importing Together libraries, previously encrypted items can be re-encrypted by Keep It.
Editor Windows
- Any item can now be opened in another window in Keep It.
- To open any item in a window by default, change the “Open items in” pop-up in General preferences from “Original application” to “Keep It”.
- New items from stationery will either be opened in a new window or selected in the list depending on the “New document” setting in General preferences.
- Hold on the Option key to create new stationery in a tab instead of the list or a separate window.
- Hold on Command to reverse the “Open items in” setting in General preferences when double-clicking items in the list.
- Hold on the Option key to see the reverse option to the “Open items in” setting in General preferences when using the Item menu.
- When opening a web link in a window, click and hold on the browser icon to see a choice of browsers.
- When opening a file that uses a Quick Look preview in a window, click and hold on the Open in [Default App] button to see a choice of apps.
Show Margins
- When opening any editable text document in a window, use the Show Margins button in the toolbar or the Show Margins menu item to restrict the width of the text.
- Drag the margins to set a maximum width.
- Margin settings are saved separately for each file type (i.e. notes can have different settings to Markdown files).
Navigation History
- Go back / forward through viewed items using the Go > Back and Go > Forward menu items.
- There is now an optional toolbar item for navigating back and forward.
- A Touch Bar item for navigating back and forward is enabled by default.
Notes and Rich Text Documents
- On macOS High Sierra, the format bar now includes a word count button. Clicking this will show text statistics in a popover. Choose an option from the pop-up to show one of these in the format bar itself. Drag the popover to detach it into a separate window.
- On macOS High Sierra, choose Format > Show Word Count to show the text statistics in a floating window. This will include number of characters, words, sentences and paragraphs in the document.
- Change the default or current highlight color using the Format > Highlight Color menu.
- The format bar no longer needs to be made quite so wide to include the regular font control with separate font, style and size buttons.
- The format bar now includes a table button.
- Fixed a crash that could occur when changing the alignment of text in a note or rich text file when no text is selected.
- Fixed an issue inserting a bulleted or numbered list into a table cell.
- Fixed an issue clicking file links in editable text.
Plain Text Documents
- On macOS High Sierra, choose Text > Show Word Count from the menu to show text statistics in a floating window.
PDFs
- Change the default or current highlight color using the Format > Highlight Color menu.
Mail Messages
- The date sent and received will now be extracted from imported mail messages and used as the creation and modification dates of the corresponding items. This is done when the items’ metadata is updated. Existing items will not be changed, but can have their dates updated by choosing Keep It > Library > Refresh Summaries and Thumbnails from the menu.
- Added an option to Advanced preferences to disable importing dates from mail messages.
Media Files
- Improved viewer for video files that supports AirPlay.
- Improved viewer for audio that shows artwork, duration, and other metadata when available.
Touch Bar
- The Tag Filter button in the Touch Bar now matches the design in the main window.
- Fixed an issue where the sidebar item would not be disabled in the Touch Bar while compact mode in use.
General
- Copy clickable links to lists in the sidebar using the contextual menu or the Services menu.
- Improved summaries for notes and text files.
- Improved the behaviour of the “When first saved” setting for automatically naming notes and stationery items. Keep It will now keep updating the name the first time the item is edited, but will stop if the item is manually renamed, manually saved with File > Save, or the file is updated from iCloud.
- When creating a new item in the list, any current search will now be cleared so that the new item can be shown.
- The status bar below the item list now indicates when search results are being shown.
- Possible performance improvement for cases where there are a large number of tags to display in the tag filter.
- It’s now possible to import links from Firefox’s reader view.
- Added support for viewing and editing Fountain files as plain text.
Other Fixes
- Fixed an issue where Web Content preferences would have no effect.
- Fixed an issue where the Cancel button in the Buy or Subscribe sheet during the free trial grace period would be truncated (Mac App Store version only).
- Fixed an issue where Keep It would get stuck generating iCloud thumbnails when an item is created and deleted before the item is first saved to iCloud.
