- Clean up web page text
- Use photo pickers in notes
- Markdown preview matches note styles
- Improvements for sharing items to Mail and Reminders
Notes and Rich Text
- When pasting from web pages or adding text via the Add To Keep It service, the text will now be adjusted for newlines, fonts, and colors. Settings for each can be found in Notes settings, but will apply to both notes and rich text documents. Text pasted from Safari and Microsoft Edge will benefit from having “Reduce font sizes” selected, while text from Chrome and Firefox will not. Keep It's default settings are based on your default browser when the app launches.
- When choosing Format > Clean-Up Formatting from the menu, colors will always be cleaned up (as in previous versions), while fonts and newlines may also be adjusted if those options are selected in Notes settings.
- The compact version of the font button in the format bar now shows the font's family name (e.g. Helvetica) not the exact font name (e.g. Helvetica Bold) to prevent buttons moving when text is made bold or italic.
- A dropdown arrow is now shown next to the highlight button to indicate that other colors are available.
- When using the Reminders sharing service for a note or rich text document, only the text is shared, not any attachments, to ensure Reminders links back to the item in Keep It.
- Improvements when using the Format > Text > Increase Indentation or Decrease Indentation when the cursor is in a bulleted or numbered list.
- Improvements when using the Mail sharing service in an editing window.
Notes
- On macOS 13 and later, attach photos or videos from your Photos library using the Attach Photo or Video button in the toolbar or by choosing Format > Attach Photo or Video from the menu.
- In the note styles editor, the background color of the list of styles will now match the background color of the Body style.
- When copying note text that contains checklists, the plain text version will match the GitHub-flavored Markdown task list syntax.
- The default note text size for notes is now "Medium". This can be changed in Notes Settings.
Links in Text
- Inserting a link to a URL, list or item when no text is selected will now show a sheet instead of a popover.
- When inserting a link to an item, the current item will no longer be included in the search results.
- When inserting a link to an item and the search field is empty, press the down arrow to show recent items.
Markdown
- The default Markdown preview style now matches Keep It's note styles.
- When the preview is shown, there are now buttons in the format bar to make the text larger or smaller, and to reload the preview.
Images
- For standalone images in the main window, a toolbar is now shown for zooming and rotating the image.
- On macOS 14 and later, use Visual Look Up and the ability to copy and share subjects in standalone images.
- On macOS 13 and later, use Live Text in standalone images.
- Disable image analysis by choosing Image > Allow Image Analysis from the menu.
Search
- Prominent features in images will now be identified and indexed for search as the image’s content. This applies to standalone images and image attachments in notes, rich text documents and mail messages.
- When searching for content, single words will be matched on their prefix, rather than the whole word. To match a whole word, put it in double quotes.
Items
- Improved the spacing of items in editor window toolbars.
- In Advanced preferences, choose whether to use HTML when sharing notes and rich text files to Mail. Enable this when Mail is set to compose in Rich Text by default and attached images will be shown inline in their correct positions, but if Mail is set to compose in Plain Text, disable this to prevent HTML from appearing in the message.
- Keep It now remembers whether the Info View is visible in Compact Mode separately to the normal setting.
- Summaries for short text items whose summaries would otherwise match their names are now shown as the file's kind instead.
- Dragging items to the system Trash will now move them to Deleted Items in Keep It, and the system Trash if Finder integration is in use.
- Fixed an issue where updating Finder comments (only applies when the script is installed to do that) could overwhelm the system.
Lists
- Dragging folders to the system Trash will move them to Deleted Items in Keep It, and the system Trash if Finder integration is in use.
- Dragging bundles, labels or saved searches to the system Trash will show a prompt to remove that list from Keep It.
Shortcuts
- Items and folders now have an "Is Deleted" property to show if they are in Deleted Items.
General
- The settings for "Use hashtags in text files" and "Allow numeric hashtags" are now stored in iCloud.
- At startup, an alert will now be shown when Finder integration is enabled in Keep It but the extension is disabled, offering to show the location in the Finder or disable Finder integration in Keep It.
- Any item with a Quick Look preview can now be opened in its own app for printing by choosing File > Print from the menu.
Fixes
- Fixed a crash that could occur when the current language isn’t supported for text recognition.
- Fixed an issue where the name of a file in the Share extension could be changed to include invalid characters, causing the import to fail.
