Lists
- Set a color when creating folders or bundles.
- When creating or editing labels with custom colors on macOS Ventura, the color picker will show a popover when clicked. Click Show Colors to see the full color palette.
Items
- When changing how items are sorted, the current sort order (ascending or descending, or newest to oldest) is preserved.
- Items that are in Deleted Items can no longer be edited, converted, or opened in windows or their original application.
- Updated support for sharing items on macOS Ventura.
- Fixed an issue where the state of the currently viewed item may not be saved when the app is quit.
Quick Open & Quick File
- Quick Open and Quick File will no longer require the order of words typed to match exactly.
- Click the -> icon in the Info view to show a Quick File popover.
Notes
- When editing note styles on macOS 13 Ventura, using the color picker will show a popover when clicked. Click Show Colors to see the full color palette.
- Choose whether to underline Title / Heading / Subheading and custom note styles.
- Choose whether to strikethrough text for custom note styles.
- Styles will now be shown with their text color and as underlined or struck through, if chosen, in the Edit Note Styles panel list and preview, and the note styles format bar menu.
- Access Notes Settings by choosing Format > Settings from the menu when a note is being viewed.
Notes and Rich Text
- When clicking the text color button in the format bar for notes or rich text documents on macOS 13 Ventura, a color palette will now be shown; click Show Colors to show the full color picker.
- Insert clickable links to external files in notes, rich text documents by holding on the Option key and choosing Format > Insert Links To Files from the menu — these files will only be accessible on Macs where the files exist in that location.
Markdown
- Insert a clickable link to an external file by holding on the Option key and choosing Markdown > Insert Link To File from the menu — these files will only be accessible on Macs where the files exist in that location.
Text Editing
- When inserting a clickable link, it’s now possible to paste the file:// URL of a file or folder that’s been copied from the Finder into the URL field. Files and folders can also be dragged to the URL field.
- When searching for items or lists to insert as a clickable links, the order of words typed no longer needs to match exactly.
Web Links & Web Pages
- If a web page was using reader mode the last time it was viewed, it’ll be restored if possible — this applies across devices when iCloud is in use.
- Added Web Link User settings, which you can see by choosing Web Link > Settings from the menu while viewing a web link. These allow you to change the user agent to mimic the current version of Safari, or to a specific value.
PDFs
- On macOS Ventura text in scanned PDFs that do not have an invisible text layer can be selected, found on the page, and highlighted for languages supported by Live Text.
Sound Files
- Sound files now show a scrubber and allow the playback speed to be changed.
Format Bars & Toolbars
- Library and editor window toolbars may now be shown either as Icon Only or Icon and Text (the library window and each type of editor has its own settings).
- The position of the Tag Filter, View Options, and Search toolbar items in the Library window are now fixed macOS 13 Ventura.
- An overflow button is shown when items in a format bar cannot be shown.
Imports
- When importing a bookmarks HTML file, the Activity window will now show automatically, and the top-level imported folder will be selected once the import is complete.
- When importing promised files (such as dragging images from a web browser), progress and errors will be reported in the Activity window.
Compact Mode
- In Compact Mode, it’s now possible to navigate to the next / previous item while viewing an item, by using the buttons shown below the toolbar, or the Go > Next Item and Previous Item menus or equivalent shortcut keys.
Settings
- On macOS 13 Ventura, “Preferences” is now called “Settings”.
- Notes settings replaces Fonts settings. Access default settings for rich text and plain text files by choosing Format > Settings or Text > Settings from the menu while viewing such an item.
Automation
- In Shortcuts, the “Find Items In Keep It” action now has options to find items with checklists and highlighted text.
- In AppleScript, the “highlighted text” property of Keep It Items will now return highlights from PDFs, in addition to notes and other editable text files supported in earlier versions.
- In AppleScript, you can now access lists of the completed and outstanding checklist items for a Keep It item.
- In AppleScript and Automator, when using the “add text” command or “Add Text to Keep It” action and no format is specified, either a note or a file in the default stationery format will be created, if that default stationery item is a valid editable text format.
- Added the ability to create Markdown files with the “add text” AppleScript command and “Add Text to Keep It” Automator action.
- Fixed an issue where using Handoff or the Open Item in Keep It shortcut action would not respect the “New document” setting to open an item in a window or select it in the list.
