Summary

- Focus on folders
- Highlight text and add notes to PDFs
- Create and edit saved searches
- Improvements to notes, iCloud, and more
iCloud Folder Sharing
- Share top-level folders with iCloud by swiping left on the folder and tapping the share icon.
- Shared folders cannot contain bundles, saved searches or other individually shared items.
- Shared folders are indicated by an icon on the top-level folder.
- Only the owner of the shared folder can rename the top-level folder, or move existing folders into a shared folder, but anyone can create and rename folders inside a shared folder.
- Only the owner can remove folders and items from shared folders, or move them to folders outside the top-level shared folder’s hierarchy.
- Anyone can add new or existing items to a shared folder, but the owner of the folder will then have ownership of all the items.
- When the owner stops sharing a folder, it’ll be removed from all other participants’ libraries.
- Other participants can remove the top-level folder to stop sharing it.
- As with individually shared items, tags and labels are not shared, but each user can add their own.
- Shared folders and items cannot be renamed or moved in the Files app.
- The owner’s iCloud storage will be used for all items in the shared folder.
Focus on Folders
- Swipe-right on any folder with nested folders, saved searches or bundles to focus on it, hiding all folders not in that hierarchy.
- Tap the x button next to a focused folder to stop focusing on it.
Searches
- Create a saved search by tapping the add list button at the bottom of the Lists view and tapping New Saved Search.
- Edit an existing saved search by tapping Edit above the Lists view, then tapping the info button next to the saved search.
- Saved searches can now be nested in the folders they target. Moving a saved search to a folder changes it to search that folder.
- Searches can now match against file names, either in the saved search editor, or with the
filename:
keyword in the search field.
PDFs
- Add highlights to text in PDFs by selecting the text and tapping Highlight.
- Change the highlight color by selecting highlighted text and choosing Highlight Color from the menu. The choice will be used as the default in future.
- Remove a highlight by selecting the highlighted text and choosing Remove Highlight from the menu.
- Add or edit a note to a highlight by selecting the highlight and choosing Add Note or Edit Note from the menu.
- Remove a note by selecting the highlight, choosing Edit Note from the menu and tapping the delete button.
- If the library is using iCloud, the default highlight color will be shared across all devices.
Notes and Rich Text
- Tap and hold on the highlight button to change the current / default highlight color.
- If the library is using iCloud, the default highlight color will be shared across all devices.
General
- An icon is now used when swiping to delete a list.
- Added a “Download Items in Favorite Lists” option to Settings. When enabled, this will download items in any favourite bundles or folders (including their subfolders and nested bundles), in addition to favourite items.
Fixes
- Fixed an issue where Remove Formatting would not use the correct font in notes.
- Fixed an issue where either the tag filter or list view buttons could be the incorrect size.
- The favorite status of individually shared items are no longer shared between participants.
