Changes
- Notes, rich text documents and plain text files now provide a “Use Faster Layout” menu item in the Format > Text menu (or Text menu for plain text files) that can be used to disable faster layout should it cause text to not be rendered correctly.
- When searching by content, it’s now possible to match underscore characters in words (previously they would be ignored). Rebuild the search index if this is required: choose Keep It > Library > Rebuild Search Index from the menu to do that.
- Fixed an issue performing text recognition on Macs with Retina displays.
- Fixed an issue where Keep It could automatically import duplicate items for the same file.
- Fixed an issue importing Evernote notes that contain a single attachment, no text, and a slash in the note’s title.
- Performance improvements when scrolling the items list.

Search
- Keep It can now recognize printed text in images, and scanned PDFs that have not had OCR performed on them.
- Find movies, videos, audio and image files generically, rather than only by a specific type (e.g. PNG image).
- Added Search preferences.
- Choose whether to perform text recognition on items, and the language or script to use in Search preferences.
- The “Highlight found content” option has been moved from the search field’s settings popover to Search preferences.
Imports
- Import directly from a scanner by choosing File > Import from [Scanner] from the menu.
- Use the File > Import from iPad or iPhone menu to import an image directly from your iPhone or iPad’s camera on macOS Mojave.
- If the default stationery is an editable text format, a new item in that format will be created when adding text with the Share extension, the Services menu, drag and drop, or the bookmarklet.
- Save web links to new or existing notes or other editable text files in the Share extension or Import view.
- Choose a format when saving a web link for offline in the share extension or import view.
- Attach files to new or existing notes or supported editable text formats in the Share extension or Import view.
- Up to five recent lists or items will be shown when selecting destination lists or items in the Share extension.
- Show the comments field in the Share extension or Import view when adding web links or files by Ctrl-clicking or right-clicking on any of the icons for the other fields, and choosing Show Comments from the menu.
- Checklists will be preserved in notes imported from Apple Notes via the Share extension, Services menu, or drag and drop.
- Dividers (horizontal rules) will now be preserved in notes when importing from Evernote.
- Finder comments will now be imported from files.
Notes
- Show attached images at a smaller size by choosing Format > Show Small Images from the menu.
- Checklists are now converted into lists when copied to other apps or notes exported as RTF/RTFD.
- Insert a divider (horizontal line) by choosing Format > Insert Divider from the menu.
- Improvements when pasting text from non-notes or other apps in Dark Mode on macOS Mojave.
Rich Text Files
- Rich text files can now be shown in dark mode colors on macOS Mojave. Unlike notes, the color of highlighted text in dark mode will not be dark.
- Added Format > Text > Clean Up Formatting menu item to convert text and background colors to the defaults.
- Added an option to Fonts preferences to always show rich text files as light content in macOS Mojave.
Plain Text Files

PDFs
- Strikethrough and underline selected text in PDFs using the menu, or format bar / toolbar.
