Lists View
- Reorder folders, bundles and nested save searches by tapping the action button above the Lists view and choosing Sort Manually (or Edit when Sort Manually is already selected). The order will be used wherever lists are shown.
- The default import destination is now indicated in the sidebar by a down arrow in a circle beside the name.
- The Lists view now uses an inset grouped style on iPhone, or on iPad in split view.
- On iPad, when the app is full screen, create a new list using the action button above the Lists view instead of the dedicated new list button.
- The Deleted Items icon is now grey.
Items List
- Favorite items can now be shown at the top in both List View and Icon View. Change the setting by tapping the view options button in the items list toolbar, or by tapping Edit above the items list, then Settings.
- When sorting the list by date, ascending order is shown as “Oldest to Newest” and descending “Newest to Oldest”.
- Nested folders, bundles and saved searches now inherit their parent folder’s view mode and sort settings unless customized.
- Improved formatting of multiple tags shown in list or icon view.
- Duplicate an item by tapping and holding on the item in the list and choosing Duplicate from the menu shown.
- The iCloud status icon now shows whether an item needs to be uploaded, downloaded, or if the file is missing on iCloud.
- Improved the appearance of the tag filter on iPhone.
Items List View
- A combination of the name and summary now wrap for up to four lines, with at least one line shown of each, unless the summary is hidden.
- The item’s thumbnail is now shown alongside both the name and summary, which allows it to be larger.
- The summary for images, movies and sounds is now shown on a single line.
- File information, such as the date, size, the container folder or bundle, and iCloud status are now shown on a single line.
- The Favorite swipe action is now yellow.
Items Icon View
- Thumbnails for documents are now shown by their width, rather than full height. Thumbnails for images are shown in full.
Items
- Previews now show an action button (…) containing actions that operate on the file being viewed such as Find Text, Show Word Count, etc and these are no longer shown in the Activity sheet or as individual buttons. Activities to copy links, share and export items are still in the Activity sheet.
- The Add to Bundle, Move to Folder and Change Label views are now searchable.
- On iPad, choose whether to add or remove an item as a favorite in the Organize menu.
- Tap the Organize button (above the preview on iPad, below on iPhone) and choose “Show In…” to see any notes or editable text items that link to the current item.
Quick Open
- On iPad in the library window, show Quick Open by pressing ⇧⌘O on a hardware keyboard.
- Start typing the name of any list or item, and choose from the results by tapping, clicking, or using the up / down arrow and Return keys.
- Tap the action (…) button to choose whether the results should include both both lists and items, only lists, or only items.
Quick File
- On iPad, in either the library window or an editing window, show Quick File by pressing ^⌥⌘F on a hardware keyboard.
- Start typing the name of any folder or bundle and choose from the results by tapping, clicking, or using the up / down arrow and Return keys.
- Similarly, navigate the lists outline using the up / down arrow keys, and the left / right arrow keys to collapse or expand folders.
- Click the + button to add the items to a new folder or bundle instead, or press ⇧⌘N for a new folder, or ^⌘N for a new bundle.
Search
- When the search field first gains focus, a number of suggestions are shown immediately. To disable that, tap Edit above the item list, then Settings and Search, and switch off “Show Suggestions Immediately”.
- When searching, the number of items found will now always be displayed below the item list, whether or not “Show Number of Items” is enabled.
- When searching for multiple words in names and comments the sequence or presence of words is no longer matched exactly unless the search text is enclosed in double quotes (or separate tokens are created for each word). This matches the behavior of content searches.
- Tapping and holding on a suggestion now allows you to change the value being searched (e.g. from date modified to date created).
- Search for items with checklists, or outstanding checklist items.
- Search for notes, rich text documents and PDFs with highlighted text, and search for a specific term in the highlighted text.
- The saved search editor has been redesigned so that rules can now be edited at the top level. Field names are now logically grouped in a menu, conditions can also be chosen using a menu, and values can be edited with a variety of inline text fields, menus and buttons.
Info View
- See notes and other editable text items that link to the current item in the Where section. Tap to show that item, highlighting the relevant link.
- Fixed an issue showing the Info view on iPhone 13 Pro Max when a large text size is selected in the Settings app.
Notes
- The format view has been redesigned. Notes styles, fonts, colors, alignment, lists and indentation are now all shown in the one view.
- Tapping the lists button above they keyboard will now show a menu with a choice of checklist, bulleted, dashed and numbered lists.
- Text alignment, and line and paragraph spacing, can now be edited for note styles.
Rich Text
- The format view has been redesigned. Fonts, colors, alignment, lists and indentation are now all shown in the one view.
- Tapping the lists button above they keyboard will now show a menu with a choice of bulleted, dashed and numbered lists.
- The default font can now be set in Rich Text Settings rather than the format view: tap the action (…) button above the preview and choose Settings.
Notes & Rich Text Documents
- Added the ability to change the line height of text in the format view.
- When the format view is visible, tap the line height button and choose More to show the Spacing panel, for line and paragraph spacing.
- Settings for notes and rich text documents have been moved to the item’s action (…) menu to be consistent with other editors.
- Display margins can be set to small, medium or large margins. To change the setting, tap the action (…) button above the preview and choose Settings.
- To disable or enable spellcheck in notes or rich text documents, tap the action (…) button above the preview and choose Settings.
- Cleanup Formatting has moved from the text editing menu to the action menu shown above the preview.
- Non-system fonts can now be chosen in the font picker.
- Insert a link to another Keep It item or list in the Add Link sheet by choosing one of the URL / Item / List options and searching for the item or list to insert.
Markdown
- Markdown previews now support task lists and auto-links.
- The format toolbar has been redesigned on iPhone.
- Menus are now shown when clicking the toolbar buttons to choose heading levels, lists, block quote levels, and links.
- When the preview is visible, force reloading the preview by tapping the action (…) button and choosing Reload Preview.
- The Markdown settings view has been redesigned so that it’s easier to navigate, using pop-up menus where appropriate.
- Change the margin size to small, medium or large in Markdown Settings > Editor Settings.
- Enable or disable the automatic spellcheck in Markdown Settings > Editor Settings.
- Non-system fonts can now be chosen in Editor Settings.
- Insert a link to another Keep It item or list in the Add Link sheet by choosing one of the URL / Item / List options and searching for the item or list to insert.
- Added an option “Nonstandard Marked Text” to the Preview Settings section of Markdown settings. When enabled, marked text can be added by enclosing text with two colons, two equal signs, or CriticMarkup-style {== and ==}, and deleted text with CriticMarkup-style {-- and --}. Keep It used CriticMarkup for versions 1.7 to 1.11.
Plain Text
- Non-system fonts can now be chosen in Settings.
Web Links
- See web pages in reader mode, if possible, by tapping the Reader button above the web page.
- Added “Save Minimally If Possible” to the Web Links section in Keep It’s settings in the Settings app to control whether web links should be saved in a minimal format (like reader mode) when possible.
- When creating a new web link in the app or the Share extension, choose the “Minimal If Possible” option in the format pop-up menu to toggle that setting on or off.
- When saving a web link that is being viewed, it will be saved minimally if reader mode is shown.
- If a web link or web page can be displayed in reader mode, it can be converted to a note, formatted with your current note styles. Save a web link as a note by tapping the action menu and choosing Save As > Note from the menu for web links or Convert To Note for a web page that has already been saved.
PDFs
- Navigate PDFs by page thumbnails or a table of contents, if available, by tapping the book icon above the PDF.
- Rotate and remove PDFs by tapping and holding on one of the thumbnails (if permitted).
- Drag and drop thumbnails to reorder the pages in a PDF (if permitted).
Mail Messages
- Improved formatting of multiple names and addresses.
Stationery
- Empty rich text, plain text, and Markdown files created from stationery will be deleted when another item is selected in the list, or the editing window is closed, unless they have been renamed.
Share Extension
- Improved formatting of multiple file names.
Files App
- Tags will now be shared between Keep It and the Files app.
Automation
- Added a “Minimal if possible” option to the Add Web Link shortcut, only shown when “Save for offline” is yes.
